Leadership Summit

For many years before ALDS' founding, leaders of LD schools would gather to connect, recharge, and learn from one another. With the formation of ALDS, our annual Leadership Summit continues to purposefully engage and refresh educators and administrators. We hope you will join us for an exciting and fulfilling opportunity to share insights, laugh, and grow alongside other LD school professionals as we work to build the next generation of leaders serving students with learning disabilities.

This year’s Leadership Summit will focus on Leading with Purpose, Influence, and Impact. Using feedback from the 2025 post-retreat survey and insights gathered from ALDS member schools, we have identified the following priority areas for this year’s gathering:

  • Clarifying school identity and purpose in ways that clearly communicate impact and differentiate ALDS schools in an increasingly complex educational landscape.

  • Advancing thought leadership in LD education, with a focus on instructional leadership, research-informed practice, shaping the broader conversation about how students with learning differences learn best, and highlighting new and innovative practices emerging in LD schools for school leaders.

  • Developing leadership capacity at every level, including strategies for supporting current leaders and intentionally cultivating the next generation of school leadership.

  • Designing and sustaining school cultures where people thrive, strengthening connection, collaboration, well-being, and alignment around mission for students, families, faculty, and staff.

  • Strengthening schools for long-term impact through strategic enrollment management, financial planning, partnerships, and diversified revenue streams that support mission-driven work.
