Springer School & Center: Navigating the High School Transition

In just a few short weeks, schools will begin to open their doors for a new school year. For students beginning their high school journey, the transition can feel especially momentous — and nerve-wracking.

For students with learning differences, those feelings are amplified.

Springer School & Center in Cincinnati understands the unique combination of excitement and apprehension that students with learning differences face as they move into high school. In fact, they understand it so well that, in 2023, they decided to build on over 50 years of success with their Lower and Middle School programs to launch a high school. Head of School Brett Marcoux presented on this bold initiative at ALDS’ 2026 Leadership Summit last week, held at the Currey Ingram Academy outside Nashville. 

Whether students are continuing their LD education into a high school program, like the one Springer and multiple other ALDS schools offer, shifting into a traditional independent school, or returning to their home district, there is much to consider.
